MAYA HOTELS IS developing a new 138-room Hilton Garden Inn as part of a master-planned complex in a busy section of Charlotte, North Carolina. The company, under CEO J.D. Deva, plans to break ground on the project in early 2020.
The hotel will be in Charlotte’s Steele Creek area, near several shopping outlets on major thoroughfares.
“The Steele Creek zip code is the fastest growing zip code in Mecklenburg County and one of the fastest growing in the U.S.,” Deva said.
The hotel’s estimated development cost is $150,000 per room. It will included a fitness center, an indoor pool and an outdoor gathering area with a fire pit.
Several other hotels also have been recently opened or are planned in the Steele Creek area, according to the Charlotte Business Journal. The others include a 119-room Residence Inn opened in February by Midas Hotels and a 118-room Courtyard by Marriott from MJM Group is expected to open by the end of the year.
A large mixed-use project also is planned for the area off Interstate 485, according to the Journal. The city also recently approved 260 townhouses for the area.
Maya Hotels also recently reopened the Hilton Garden Inn Gastonia / Charlotte West and has two hotels under construction in Mooresville, North Carolina, a 120-room Tru by Hilton and a 128-room Aloft. Both properties are scheduled to open in the first half of 2020.
Maya’s portfolio currently includes six properties with more than 600 guest rooms across North Carolina, South Carolina, and Alabama with brands including Intercontinental Hotels and Hilton.
