Along with dealing with flooding at two of his properties in Houston, Mirage Hospitality President and CEO Miraj Patel has been doing all he can to help his fellow Houstonians recover from Hurricane Harvey. WITH FLOOD WATERS from Hurricane Harvey still surging in Houston, Mirage Hospitality President and CEO Miraj Patel is doing what he can to help. That includes starting a GoFundMe page with his best friend and Mirage Vice President for Operations Saajan Patel that has raised nearly $15,000 so far.

So far the page has raised nearly $15,000 of its $25,000 goal, raised by 103 people in three days.

“The devastation has been catastrophic and unbelievable,” the Patels wrote on the page. “Over 14 trillion gallons of water has fallen over Greater Houston and Southeast Texas. After every major disaster, cleanup and relief efforts begin as the weather permits. Let’s all come together and raise funds for those that have been majorly affected by this disaster.”

The funds raised by the page go to supplies for shelters around the city. “Our main objective for these funds is to buy supplies such as blankets, pillows, soap, shampoo, etc., for the ones who have been affected by this disaster,” Saajan Patel said.

Contributors are asked to send their name, number and email address to e-mails provided on the page. “We also have a special plan for those who are donating,” Saajan Patel said.

Previously, Miraj Patel said his family’s hotels have been filled with evacuees, though two of them also were flooded. “The past few days have truly been unfortunate in Houston,” he said. “However, we are fortunate for such a united community. Together we can, together we will.”
