Present at the July 27 groundbreaking ceremony for a GLō hotel were DeSoto Mayor Curtistene McCowan; City Manager Tarron J. Richardson; Bob Clasby, managing director of North American development for Best Western Hotels & Resorts International Inc.; Joe Lang, brand development project manager for Best Western; Jiger Patel of Shreem Capital, owner and developer; and Eric Anderson, president of Spirit Bank, the project lender.

GLō by Best Western Hotels & Resorts International, owned by an Asian American hotel developer in cooperation with the city of DeSoto, Texas, is set to open in May.

Jiger Patel of Shreem Capital and Eighty-Twenty Development of Irving, Texas, will construct the 75-room property next to an industrial park.

The hotel will have 1,000 square feet of meeting space, a fitness center and a spa. 3i Contracting LLC is the general contractor. DeSoto Economic and Development Corporation approved a grant to attract the project to the city.

DeSoto is 15 miles from downtown Dallas. Neighboring enterprises at the Eagle Business and Industrial Park include GlasFloss Industries Inc., DeSoto Heliport, Solar Turbines – A Caterpillar Company, Kohl’s e-Commerce Fulfilment Center, luxury brand Williams-Sonoma Direct, Sam’s/Wal-Mart Distribution, Cintas, DW Distribution, Kauffman Tire, Marten Transport, DIAB and ZEP.
