Nearly 47 million Americans will travel during the July Fourth holiday, reports AAA.
On average the travelers will cover 50 miles during the 2018 holiday, which AAA defines as running from July 3 through 8.
Most of the travelers, 39.7 million of them, will go by car. Rising gasoline prices have not dampened the travel trend, which is expected to increase for the fourth year in a row, rising 5.1 percent or by nearly 2 million people over 2017 July Fourth.
The entire volume of travel is the fifth consecutive annual increase and highest since AAA began tracking data 18 years ago, according to the association.
