Fairfield Inn & Suites Columbus opened on June 22 in Columbus, Indiana. AGS Columbus LLC owns the 96-room upper-midscale, select-service hotel. Amit Patel heads AGS Columbus.
Property manager is HP Hotels of Alpharetta, Georgia. Mike Hines is chairman of HP Hotels and Charles Oswald is president and CEO.
Columbus is part of the Indianapolis/Louisville/Cincinnati triangle. The hotel provides more than 3,000 square feet of meeting space, making it the largest conference venue in Columbus. A Clarion Hotel and Conference Center in Columbus closed in July, leaving the city without a conference venue, according to The Republic newspaper.
The hotel is off Interstate 65, and is close to businesses such as Enkei, Cummins, Toyota, NTN, Faurecia, Impact Forge and Sunright America. It is near downtown Columbus, Edinburg Premium Outlets, Columbus Regional Hospital and Camp Atterbury Military training center.
Patel’s parents owned and operated a Knights Inn in Columbus. Ten years ago, he convinced his parents to raze the aged structure and build a La Quinta Inn. The new hotel opened in July 2010. Patel has gone on to develop and own several other hotels and branded restaurants. He is a partner in Dental Solutions with Dipesh Sitaram. Patel also established a private equity firm.
