Avid Hotel Oklahoma City – Quail Springs opened on Aug. 21, just three weeks after holding a hard-hat tour hosted by brand parent InterContinental Hotels Group and owner Champion Hotels.

IHG launched avid hotels in September 2017 as its new midscale brand. Champak “Champ” Patel, founder and CEO of Champion Hotels, broke ground for the 87-room, four-story hotel in December. Champion Hotels is building a second avid hotel next to its Holiday Inn Express, an IHG Hotel, in Oklahoma City’s airport district. Champ Patel expects that hotel to open in March.

Patel was among a group of owners who advised IHG during the development of the brand. He was joined by his son, Harshil, and several other Asian American owners, including Bruce Patel, a former AAHOA chairman.

The newly opened avid hotel is on a 1.3-acre site near Quail Springs Mall, a shopping, dining and entertainment district in the northern reaches of the city.
