The DoubleTree by Hilton Carsonin South Bay, Los Angeles, has completed a multi-million transformation, which includes comprehensive upgrades throughout the guest rooms, public areas, function space and dining outlets. The hotel is a sponsor of the Home Depot Center Sports and Entertainment Complex, less than two miles from the hotel. GM is Larry Saward. The property was purchased in 2010 through a partnership with Platinum Equity and Ensemble Investments and re-licensed as DoubleTree by Hilton Carson. Urgo Hotels has managed the hotel successfully throughout the hotel refurbishment project, since 2010. HFS Concepts 4 redesigned the 225-room hotel.
New Castle Hotels and Resorts on May 17 announced a joint venture and long-term management agreement for the Residence Inn/Courtyard by Marriott under development by RHS Holdings, LLC, a Syracuse-based real-estate development firm. The combination hotel, called the Inns at Armory Square, is the first new-build hotel in downtown Syracuse, N.Y., in more than 50 years. The hotels – a 78-room Residence Inn and a 102-room Courtyard by Marriott – are scheduled to open in a year. The properties will share a lobby and a pool.
Hyatt French Quarter, a joint venture between Carey-Watermark Investors and HRI Properties, has opened in New Orleans after undergoing an $18m renovation. It is the third Hyatt Hotels Corp. property to enter the New Orleans market within the last year. Larry Daniels is GM. The renovation included upgrades to the hotel’s 254 guest rooms, as well as the hotel exterior, lobby, landscaping and pool and deck area decor.
Hyatt Hotels Corp., Interstate Hotels & Resorts and Carpenter & Co. have announced the grand opening of Hyatt Place Boston/Braintree, marking the first Hyatt Place on the South Shore and the second Hyatt Place in Massachusetts. The 204-room hotel is next to South Shore Place, a retail project led by Carpenter & Co. set to open this summer. Steve Buckler is GM.
