A FLORIDA HOTEL developer plans to construct two branded properties in St. Augustine. Jalaram Hotels Inc., headed by Kanti Patel, has several hotels in the historic beach city as well as others in various stages of development.

Patel expects to start construction on a SpringHill Suites by Marriott and a Hilton Garden Inn along a busy commercial corridor. The hotels will have 80 to 100 rooms, reports the St. Augustine Record.

Jalaram is constructing a 90-room Renaissance by Marriott on a site where three hotels once stood. It razed a Best Western, a restaurant and a visitor center to make way for the upper upscale property.

The developer also plans to convert a former cigar factory in St. Augustine into a boutique hotel.

In Tampa, Florida, the Liberty Group under CEO Punit Shah just opened the dual-branded Hampton Inn by Hilton Tampa Downtown Channel District and Home2 Suites by Hilton Tampa Downtown Channel District.
